Fresh out of Berklee College of Music, a Cum Laude graduate, Luke Mulholland began teaching guitar lessons in 2011 and has steadily maintained 5–10 private students per week since. Teaching privately and with companies, in both one-on-one and group settings, Mulholland gradually developed a “student-first” mentality, with an emphasis on the student’s happiness, passion for music and growth as a musician above all else. He is more than happy to provide detailed lesson plans but approaches each client with the philosophy of, “At the end of the day, lessons should ALWAYS be based on what the student wants to do.” Topics that can be covered include but are not limited to:

– Open/bar/7th/advanced chords
– Pentatonic/major/minor/modes/advanced scales
– Technical abilities
– Basic/advanced music theory
– Song construction and composition
– Reading/writing music notation
– Slide guitar playing
– The student’s favorite songs

Furthermore, as a professional touring musician over the last 10 years, in both Boston and Los Angeles, Luke has been the leader of his own bands, “The Luke Mulholland Band” and “Mulholland Drive” respectively, and has toured in support of acts including but not limited to:

– Bon Jovi
– Carlos Santana
– Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band
– Blues Traveler
– Blue Oyster Cult
– Johnny Winter
– Marshall Tucker Band
– Devon Allman & Honeytribe
– The Yardbirds

So, on top of being able to teach from the schooling side of music, he is also able to teach the important aspects of being a proficient guitar player in a live, performance setting. Topics that can be covered include but are not limited to:

– How to fit in as part of a band
– How to “feed off” of other players in a live, performance setting
– The best gear to get to customize your own, unique tone
– Where to find that gear for the best price
